To apply for and collect your documents, follow the steps below:
- 1. Pay for the document at the Bursary on the main campus at mile 7, Nkwen, Bamenda. Transcripts for each level of the HND Programme currently cost 2,000frs. Internal transcript for the one-year top-up degree programme costs 5,000frs. The cost of an internal transcript for postgraduate students is 6,000frs. Attestation of Completion of Course, attestation of Good Conduct, as well as Attestation of English Language Proficiency cost 2,000frs for undergraduate students, and 3,000frs for postgraduate students.
- 2. Collect an application form from the Bursary and fill it out.
- 3. Collect a Clearance form from the Bursary and have the competent authorities sign it, confirming you don't owe anything.
- 4. Submit the application plus clearance form to the Bursary or Dean/Director of your School. Once this is done, the document(s) will be established.
- 5. Applications for Attestation of completion of course, Attestation of Good Conduct, Attestation of Studentship, and Attestation of English Language Proficiency should be submitted to the Secretariat of the Registrar.
- 6. It will save time and stress if you come along with proof of payment of all tuition fees. If not, it will take time for the bursary to go through the archives to verify if you paid all fees. This may take days, especially if you graduated several years back.
- 7. Make sure you apply for your documents well ahead of time. It takes days for academic credentials to be established. Don't wait until you're required to submit the documents before you start rushing to NPUI to collect them in a haste.
- 8. Some schools and employers (especially foreign institutions) request that your documents be sent to them directly by NPUI in a sealed envelope. Be informed that due to fraud, forgery, and other illicit acts, NPUI will henceforth not seal such documents for the concerned to send. The document(s) will be sealed and sent directly by NPUI at the cost of the person requesting it/them. NPUI doesn't have a budget for mailing documents. Contact the Registry or Directorate of Academic Affairs for the sealing and mailing of your document(s).
- 9. Most Universities and employers (especially foreign institutions) request reference/recommendation letters from applicants for admission or employment purposes. Lecturers may charge for recommendation letters due to associated costs. Please make sure you contact the lecturer you want to be your referee or recommender and have their approval before including their name as your recommender or referee on any form.
- 10. You are advised that as soon as you complete either HND or bachelor's or Master's Degree programmes, collect your transcripts for the said programme immediately. Don't graduate, go away, and stay for years before coming for your academic transcripts/credentials. Searching for results of students who graduated many years ago and went away without collecting their academic credentials generally takes time. Original copies of your academic transcripts should remain with you for life. Each time they are needed somewhere, you simply have to come to NPUI with photo copies and the originals for certification or authentication.
- 11. Certification or authentication of academic documents costs a thousand (1,000) francs, payable to the Bursary on the main campus at mile 7 Nkwen.
- 12. HND/HPD/DSEP/BTS Certificates from 2002 up to date are available in the Ministry of Higher Education in Yaounde for collection by the owners.
- 13. Former students of NPUI whose documents are referred to the University of Buea (UB) by WES, and other credentials evaluation companies, Universities, or employers are informed that the University of Buea (UB) charges a verification/confirmation fee of 25,000frs for this service for both UB students and students of partner Institutions. University of Bamenda (UBa) charges 50,000frs for the same service. If your documents are referred to the University of Buea for verification, you have to pay 25,000frs to the UB cash office against a receipt before the verification report can be sent to the requesting institution/organisation. Here is UB site for payment of verification charges; https://www.ubuea.cm/index.php/about-us/document-verification/
- 14. Academic credentials can only be signed out or collected from NPUI by the owner. If someone else has to collect your documents for you, then you must give that person an authorization letter signed by a Commissioner of Police or a Bailiff, or Public Notary.
